Cumulative Trauma Disorder Prevention Program

Throughout mankind, individuals have performed physical work. Whether hunting, farming or performing various production and manufacturing tasks, workers have made use of their body's abilities.

Over the years we have found that the body's abilities do have subtle limitations. It is these limitations coupled with modern workday efficiencies, productivity demands or workplace design faults that have resulted in the current epidemic of Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD) illnesses.

This program has been designed, not only for people with a cumulative trauma disorder and anyone interested in learning more about cumulative trauma disorders, but also, it has been designed to become an integral part of a comprehensive Cumulative Trauma Disorder prevention and management program.

Eduction is a very important part of your Cumulative Trauma Disorder prevention and management plan. This program has been designed to involve all employees including top and middle managers, supervisors, ergonomic team members and hourly workers. It is intended for use in all occupational settings.

Time and again it has been show that with proper education and some technical guidance most cumulative trauma problems can be solved by workers and their supervisors. Therefore, this program focuses upon providing answers using the most important causation and correction principles. Through discussion and practice these principles may be applied to better understand and correct cumulative trauma disorder problems in your workplace.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE CUMULATIVE TRAUMA DISORDER PREVENTION PROGRAM

  • Educate the participant in the basics of repetitive trauma.
  • Acquaint the participant with common types of CTD's.
  • Educate the participant in the causes of CTD.
  • Educate the participant in how to recognize and avoid potentially harmful situations.
  • Create self confidence so that the participant may most effectively adjust to and manage a cumulative trauma disorder if it develops.
  • Educate the participant in the use of exercises to prevent and manage cumulative trauma disorders.
  • Decrease expenses associated with CTD.
  • Help the participant understand the basics of appropriate medical management which will enable them to become a better consumer of medical care if a problem develops.

CUMULATIVE TRAUMA DISORDER PREVENTION PROGRAM

Employee's Session

  • 1 1/2 - 2 hours
  • Cumulative Trauma: Reducing The Risk: Self Help Manual
  • Emphasis placed on employee responsibility to control stressful living and working habits and stay in good physical condition
  • Healthy back exercises, Workin' out at work warm up exercises, Mini-break exercises for relaxation and relief of stressful positions or repetitive motions
  • Customized presentation

    $250 per session plus cost of manual (approx. $3 each)


Manager's/Supervisor's/Ergonomic Team Member's Session

  • 4 hours
  • All components of Employee Session plus:
  • The Ergonomics Manual: Guidebook for Managers, Supervisors and Ergonomic Team Members
  • Emphasis placed on prevention methods including identification of high risk behaviors, recognition of worker behavior patterns, positive communication with employees, and a positive approach to solving problems.
  • Basic training in Worksite Evaluation and Redesign as well as Lifting and Body Mechanics Evaluation.
  • Workshop format practice session for Evaluation and Problem Solving

    $400 per session plus cost of hand book (approx. $3 each)
